Warehouse Subsidy Scheme 2024 :

Many times it happens that due to not being able to keep the crop safe, farmers have to sell their crop at low prices. Keeping this in mind, the government has started the Warehouse Subsidy Scheme 2024. Under this scheme, storage will be constructed to keep the crops of farmers safe. The storage can be constructed by the farmers themselves or by organizations associated with the farmers. In this scheme, farmers will be provided a loan for the construction of a warehouse and a subsidy will also be given on the loan.

Rural Storage Scheme Capacity :

The capacity under this scheme will be decided by the entrepreneur. But to avail of subsidy the warehouse capacity should be a minimum of 100 tonnes and a maximum of 30,000 tonnes. If the capacity is more than 30,000 tonnes or less than 100 tonnes then a subsidy will not be given under this scheme. In some special cases, subsidy will be provided even up to 50 tonnes capacity. The subsidy will also be provided to rural warehouses with 25-tonne capacity in hilly areas. The loan repayment period under this scheme is 11 years.

The objective of the Rural Storage Scheme :

The main objective of the Warehouse Subsidy Scheme 2024 is to create a warehouse for the farmers. So that the farmer can keep his crop safe and is not forced to sell his crop at low prices. Through this scheme, the economic condition of farmers will also improve and they will not have to face problems.

Capital cost of the project under Rural Storage Scheme :

• For 1000 tonne capacity warehouse:- Estimated project cost or actual cost provided by the bank or Rs. 3500 per tonne. Whichever is less.
• Warehouses with capacity more than 1000 tonnes:- Estimated project cost provided by the Bank or actual cost or Rs 1500 per tonne. Whichever is less.

• It is mandatory to have some facilities in the warehouse like a paved road, drainage system, security system, system for loading and unloading goods etc.
• All skylights and windows should be birdproof.
• All doors and windows should be airtight.
• The godown should be safe from germs.
• Construction of the storehouse should be as per the guidelines of CPWD or CPWD-K.
• One can create a storage planet anywhere as per one’s wish.
• Under the Rural Storage Scheme, it is mandatory for the applicant to obtain a license for the warehouse.
• If the stock is more than 1000 tonnes then it is necessary to obtain recognition from CWC.
• The height of the warehouse should not be less than 4-5 meters.
• Under this scheme, the warehouse should be built as per engineering standards.
• Under the Warehouse Subsidy Scheme 2024, the applicant will have to construct scientific storage.
• Under this scheme, it is mandatory for the applicant to have his own land.
• The warehouse capacity is decided depending on the application under this scheme.
